Vehicle Impound
Empire Towing is sub-contracted to tow for the City and County of Honolulu within District 2 (D2) , District 3 (D3) and District 8 (D8.) Our HPD Storage lot is located at 91-1839 Roosevelt Ave. Kapolei, HI 96707 (off of Vinson Rd.) If you need further instruction, please give our office a call at (808)621-2800.
In the event that your vehicle has been impounded by the police department or private property, the following is a general guideline of the necessary paperwork you will need in order to claim your vehicle.
TO RELEASE A VEHICLE YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:
- Driver’s License
- State ID
- Passport
- Military ID card
If you are unable to provide the proper documents stated above, we will not be able release the vehicle.
In the event that your vehicle has been impounded by the police department or private property, the following is a general guideline of the necessary paperwork you will need in order to claim your vehicle.
TO RELEASE A VEHICLE YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:
- Valid Driver's License and/or Government Issued Photo Identification Card
- Driver’s License
- State ID
- Passport
- Military ID card
- Proof of Ownership – Vehicle title and/or Vehicle Registration and in some cases we are able to accept an original, notarized bill of sale showing all vehicle information (year, make, model, color, license plate number and vin number,) with the name of the original registered owner.
- If you are NOT the registered owner, an original, notarized power of attorney (P.O.A) stating the registered owner authorizes you to legally act on their behalf. The P.O.A must include your full name, your relationship to registered owner, all vehicle information (year, make model, color, license plate number and vin number,) the name and direct contact number of the registered owner.
- If you are picking up a vehicle on behalf of a company, you will need an original letter, on company letter head from an officer of the company stating that you will be picking up the vehicle on their behalf. The letter must include your full name, position, all vehicle information (year, make model, color, license plate number and vin number,) the name and direct contact number of the person writing letter.
- If a "Hold" has been placed on your vehicle by the Honolulu Police Department (Auto Theft,) you must obtain a release before the vehicle can be bailed out. (We will be able to assist with contacting an Officer for you once you are verified.)
- Vehicles will also be released to insurance agencies and rental agencies with "Hold Harmless" document and a verbal release of the registered owner.
If you are unable to provide the proper documents stated above, we will not be able release the vehicle.
